ORANGEWALLstudios TIMBER ARCH publication
ORANGEWALLstudios is honored to be included in KLH’s 2nd edition of TIMBER ARCH. This publication is an international showcase for a handful of significant projects that utilize their product. The Children’s Course Learning Center was completed for the Children’s Course a non-profit organization located in Gladstone, OR this past summer and utilizes Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) for its structural properties, reduced site construction impact and natural warmth and beauty.
Enriching People’s Lives Through Thoughtful Life Science Design
ORANGEWALLstudios architecture + planning is excited to announce our alliance with ID Studios, a tenured and accomplished interior design studio in Solana Beach, CA. The collaboration was formed specifically in response to the increased demand for highly qualified lab planning and cutting-edge workplace design services in the Life Science sector in the San Diego. Over the last 17 years, ORANGEWALLstudios has designed and planned wet and dry labs that support immunology, genomics, biochemistry, and neuroscience, as well as support spaces such as vivariums and critical infrastructure. We are looking forward to expanding our West Coast outreach and providing highly technical expertise with ID Studios and a new physical presence in San Diego, CA.
OHSU ONPRC Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute
VGTI is a renovation of existing research space into a flexible, open-plan immunology wet-lab, BSL2 tissue culture lab, microscopy lab and spaces for supporting personnel and equipment. The open lab is designed to maintain flexibility for a diverse cross-section of investigators for OHSU’s growing immunology research. Completely modular, the lab casework can adapt to changes in the research teams using the space and can be adjusted to accommodate a variety of working postures. Communication and collaboration is encouraged and further supported by the open lab design, and is setting the standard set forth by OHSU.
Vollum Institute; Building Renovation and Neurobiology Lab Design
The Vollum Renovation Project is a 6 year, 3 Phase, whole building renovation project to modernize the operating infrastructure of an almost 40 year-old land mark research building. ORANGEWALLstudios also provided programming and planning services for several of the neurobiology labs ranging in size and scale including research director Marc Freeman, Ph.D.
Pacific Norhwest Cryo-EM Center
OHSU received an NIH U24 Grant to renovate and expand the capabilities of the current microscopy lab for the designation of a National Center for cryoElectron Microscopy (NCCEM), one of three national centers established by the NIH to carry out ground-breaking research. The NIH has invested $128 million to establish all three centers and expand the use of this Nobel Prize winning method of imaging. The NIH is putting an additional $1.5 million toward training users. The project was designed for work to be completed with adjacent operational microscopy rooms and active vivarium.
With our combined extensive experience ORANGEWALLstudios and ID Studios have well over 1.5 Million SF of history in Lab planning and Workplace design. It is clear that our approach makes us an exceptional choice for companies who care both about their solutions as well as their people.
ORANGEWALLstudios’ headquarters remains in Portland, Oregon with additional offices located in Oakland and Solana Beach, CA.
"Taking A Slice Out of Hunger" with CANstruction
September 2017 - ORANGEWALLstudios collaborated with R&H Construction and WDY Structural+Civil Engineers in a design-build can food drive benefiting the Oregon Food Bank. The proud OWs-R&H-WDY team constructed an 8-foot tall pineapple, traditionally a symbol for welcome, friendship and hospitality and, globally, one of the most accessible food sources. ORANGEWALLstudios was proud to take part in this event that benefited those in need and help take a slice out of hunger.
